Written and produced by Stock Aitken Waterman, this fourth single from Whenever You Need Somebody (1987) became Rick Astley's second US chart-topper, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 on June 18, 1988. The song reached number two in the UK behind Kylie Minogue's "I Should Be So Lucky" and topped charts in Canada, Ireland, and Spain. Released by RCA and BMG in February 1988, it was a top ten hit in many European countries.
