Tom's Diner
Written by Suzanne Vega in 1981 or 1982, "Tom's Diner" originally appeared on her 1987 album Solitude Standing before being remixed by English electronic producers DNA in 1990, reaching number 1 in Austria, Germany, Greece, Luxembourg, and Switzerland. The song earned Vega the title of "Mother of the MP3" for its use in testing various digital compression schemes during the format's development.
