We Built This City
Written by Martin Page and Bernie Taupin as a lament against the closure of Los Angeles live music clubs, this 1985 debut single from Starship's Knee Deep in the Hoopla album peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Despite its success, the song topped a 2011 Rolling Stone poll of worst songs of the 1980s and was called the worst song of all time by Blender and GQ magazines.
