Written by Dennis Lambert, Martin Page, Bernie Taupin, and Peter Wolf, this debut single from Starship's 1985 album Knee Deep in the Hoopla was originally intended as a lament against the closure of Los Angeles live music clubs. The album title comes from a lyric in the song's first verse.
