Ray Charles - What'd I Say

What'd I Say

Written and recorded by Ray Charles in 1959, this improvised composition became one of the first soul songs and Charles' first gold record, finally breaking him into mainstream pop music after his run of R&B hits. Released as a two-part single, it was added to the National Recording Registry in 2002 and appeared at number 10 on Rolling Stone's 2003 version of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time" list.
