Written by Vanessa Carlton and Stephan Jenkins of Third Eye Blind, this song became the lead single from Carlton's second album Harmonium in August 2004. Jenkins also produced the track, marking a collaboration between the two singer-songwriters. The song followed Carlton's breakthrough debut album Be Not Nobody.
