Written by Graham Russell with a co-writing credit to Arista Records president Clive Davis, who suggested the key lyric “I’m so lost without you,” the song reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1980, blocked from the top spot by Diana Ross’s “Upside Down” and Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust.” In the UK, it peaked at number 11 and remains Air Supply’s only top 40 hit in that country.
