Born in Barbados in 1988, the singer was signed to Def Jam Recordings after auditioning for Jay-Z at age 16. Her third album Good Girl Gone Bad (2007) produced the worldwide number-one hit "Umbrella," which spent ten consecutive weeks atop the UK chart and won Video of the Year at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards.
