Smokey Robinson
Smokey Robinson founded The Miracles in Detroit in 1955, becoming one of Motown's earliest signings and writing the label's first million-seller, 'Shop Around', in 1960. As the group's lead singer and songwriter, he wrote hits like 'The Tracks of My Tears', 'Tears of a Clown' and 'I Second That Emotion'. His solo career launched in 1972 with hits including 'Cruisin' and 'Being with You', and he remains one of soul music's most influential songwriters.
