The Five Stairsteps
The Five Stairsteps were a family soul group from Chicago who began performing in the 1960s, consisting of the five Burke siblings. Produced by Curtis Mayfield early in their career, they recorded for his Windy C label before moving to other labels. "O-o-h Child" (1970) became their biggest hit, a gentle soul ballad with an uplifting message that has endured as a classic, frequently appearing in films and television soundtracks decades after its release.
