The Walkmen

The Walkmen formed in New York City in 2000 after members' previous bands dissolved, including Jonathan Fire*Eater and The Recoys. The five-piece band developed a sound centered on Hamilton Leithauser's raw vocals and Paul Maroon's guitar work, recording in their own Marcata Studio. Their 2004 album Bows + Arrows featured "The Rat," which exemplified their post-punk influenced indie rock approach.
