Written by Jack Lee and originally recorded by his band the Nerves in 1976, this song was discovered by Blondie on a cassette compilation given to them by Jeffrey Lee Pierce. Released on their 1978 breakthrough album Parallel Lines and produced by Mike Chapman with an opening phone sound-effect, the track became a top five hit on the UK singles chart.
