Released on June 9, 1988 as the first single from New Edition's fifth studio album Heart Break, "If It Isn't Love" became the group's first top 10 hit following Bobby Brown's departure, peaking at number seven on the US Billboard Hot 100. The song and video introduced Johnny Gill as a new member of the quintet.
