Written by Tony Banks, Phil Collins, and Mike Rutherford for Genesis's 1986 album Invisible Touch, this track was originally composed for the British neo-noir film Mona Lisa and won the "Most Performed Song from a Film" award at the 1988 BMI Film & TV Awards. The single reached No. 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart, and later appeared in the 2000 film American Psycho.
