King Of Pain
Written by Sting as a post-separation song from his wife for The Police's fifth and final studio album Synchronicity (1983), this track reached number three on the US Billboard Hot 100 in October 1983 and number one on the Billboard Top Tracks chart for five weeks. The song's lyrics conjure up symbols of pain and relate them to a man's soul, and it later became a notable cover for Alanis Morissette on her MTV Unplugged album in 1999.
