Major Tom (Coming Home)

Peter Schilling wrote and recorded this new wave track as the lead single from his 1983 album Error in the System, featuring a character unofficially related to David Bowie's "Major Tom" from "Space Oddity." Part of Germany's Neue Deutsche Welle movement, the song tells of an astronaut drifting into space as radio contact breaks off, leaving his fate ambiguous, and crossed over into popular culture with versions in both English and German.
