Written by Prince under the pseudonym "Christopher," this first single from the Bangles' second studio album Different Light (1986) became the band's first hit, reaching number 2 in the United States, the United Kingdom, Austria, Canada, Germany, and Ireland. The song was kept from the top spot in the U.S. by Prince's "Kiss" and was later certified silver in the UK by the British Phonographic Industry.
