Bikini Kill
Bikini Kill formed in Olympia, Washington in 1990, becoming central to the riot grrrl movement that combined punk rock with feminist politics. The band's raw sound and confrontational lyrics, heard on songs like "Rebel Girl," addressed sexism and encouraged female participation in punk scenes. Fronted by Kathleen Hanna, Bikini Kill released several albums and EPs before disbanding in 1997.
