Carpenters
Carpenters were a sibling duo from Downey, California, consisting of Karen Carpenter on vocals and drums and Richard Carpenter on keyboards and arrangements. They achieved major commercial success in the early 1970s with their soft rock sound, releasing hits including "(They Long to Be) Close to You" and "We've Only Just Begun" in 1970. The duo released eleven albums between 1969 and 1981, with Karen's warm contralto voice becoming their signature element before her death in 1983.
