Harry Nilsson was a Brooklyn-born singer-songwriter who achieved success in the late 1960s and 1970s, known for his three-octave vocal range. His cover of Badfinger's "Without You" became his biggest hit, reaching number one in multiple countries in 1972. Nilsson won Grammy Awards for his performances and was one of the few major artists of his era to achieve commercial success without touring.
