Luther Vandross
Luther Vandross began his career as a session vocalist in 1970s New York, singing backup for David Bowie on Young Americans and contributing to Chic's recordings, before becoming the lead singer of the disco group Change on their 1980 hit 'The Glow of Love'. His solo debut Never Too Much in 1981 launched a career that produced eight platinum albums and earned him eight Grammy Awards, with his smooth tenor voice making him one of R&B's most celebrated balladeers.
