M People formed in Manchester in 1990, bringing together producer Mike Pickering, Paul Heard, and vocalist Heather Small. The group blended house music with soul and disco influences, achieving major success in the UK during the 1990s. Their albums "Elegant Slumming" and "Bizarre Fruit" produced numerous hit singles including "Moving on Up" and "Search for the Hero."
