Rose Royce
Rose Royce formed in Los Angeles in the early 1970s, originally serving as Edwin Starr's backing band before being discovered by producer Norman Whitfield. The funk and soul group achieved major success with their soundtrack for the 1976 film "Car Wash," which included both the title track and "I Wanna Get Next to You." Rose Royce continued recording throughout the late 1970s and 1980s, becoming known for their smooth blend of funk, soul, and disco.
