Salt-N-Pepa
Salt-N-Pepa formed in Queens, New York in 1985, consisting of Cheryl "Salt" James, Sandra "Pepa" Denton, and DJ Spinderella (Deidra Roper). They became one of the first all-female rap groups to achieve mainstream success, with their 1986 single "Push It" breaking through to pop audiences. The group's albums "Blacks' Magic" (1990) and "Very Necessary" (1993) established them as major forces in hip-hop with their frank discussions of sexuality and relationships.
