Commodores
Commodores formed in Tuskegee, Alabama in 1968 as a funk and soul group led by Lionel Richie. The band achieved widespread success in the 1970s with hits like "Brick House," "Easy," and the ballad "Three Times a Lady." After Richie departed for a solo career in 1982, the group continued with "Nightshift," a tribute to Marvin Gaye and Jackie Wilson that won a Grammy Award in 1985.
