Joan Jett & the Blackhearts

Joan Jett & the Blackhearts

Joan Jett & the Blackhearts formed in 1979 after Jett's earlier band The Runaways disbanded. The group achieved major success with their 1981 cover of "I Love Rock 'n' Roll," which topped the Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks. Playing straight-ahead rock with punk energy, the band continued charting throughout the 1980s with hits like "Crimson and Clover" and "I Hate Myself for Loving You."
